A Living Memorial

          Built in 1927 as Sunflower New Thought Spiritualist Association Church, Memorial Spiritual Christian Church as we know it today continues as a dedication to the memory of the 172 children, 2 teachers and 1 rescue worker who lost their lives in the Lakeview Elementary School fire of March 4th, 1908 -- later to be known as the Collinwood School fire. The parents of one of the children, named Laura Baldwin -- who died in the fire -- donated the land for a spiritualist church to be built.
